New Book Reviews by Valerie Sziraky
Healing Depression
by Catherine Carrigan.
This book approaches depression from many different angles and offers
techniques including stress management, balanced nutrition, medical
options, and positive mental development. It is a thorough solution
designed as a reference guide. Much of the book is done in a bolded
question and answer format which makes it not only easy to understand, but
easy to use as well. Its holistic approach is certain to provide relief to
people who are feeling depressed.
The Complete Book of Energy Medicines
by Dr. Helen Dziemidko.
This book combines a medical doctor's scientific approach with a detailed
look at over 50 methods of energy healing. Also included is a list of 20
common ailments and possible healing solutions. It begins with sections on
the physics, traditional views and perceiving of energy and then goes into
the descriptions of each method. I thought this book was an excellent
introduction to the field of energy work. It would be really good for
someone who was trying to decide which method would suit him personally.
Detoxification
by Linda Page.
In today's world of processed foods, environmental pollution, and physical
stresses, thank goodness we have good reference materials available to help
us detox mind and body. Linda Page takes us through five main healing
traditions including Ayurvedic, Western-European, Rainforest Culture,
Native American Legacy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This guide is done
in encyclopaedia form and includes information on herbal cleansing,
bodywork, "green cuisine" , cleansing fruit drinks and much more. She also
addresses special needs such as allergy, Alzheimer's and candida and gives
information on specific cleansing techniques for those areas. It is so
complete that it will serve as a soul source for most normal cleansing needs.
The Energy Body Connection
by Pamela Welch.
This book explains the concept of how we are all universally connected in
an enormous energy field and how we can use that concept to heal ourselves
emotionally and physically. Welch writes that our soul's connection to the
physical world is through our own personal energy field and that we are
able to manipulate this field to heal ourselves. She shows her readers how
to use mystic archetypes, meditation, affirmations, dreams and various
other pathways in order to help elevate our consciousness and better our
lives. I found this book interesting to read as well as informative.
